Research interests:
- Parametrisation of arbitrary galaxy morphologies. I compare different approaches and try to understand their individual limitations, in order to draw conclusions that can serve as general guidelines for an improved parametrisation scheme.
- Classification of galaxy morphologies. Modern sky surveys contain millions of galaxies, i.e. a visual classification is absolutely infeasible. In my master project I showed that it is possible to set up an unsupervised learning (clustering) algorithm that is able to discover reasonable morphological classes without any prior assumptions.
