WHAT DO STUDENTS DO IN U.S. SCHOOLS ?

In this presentation, we would like to give you an overview of U.S. school life – to be precise, we particularly focused on high schools. U.S. high school life is different from the system in many other countries and therefore it is worth talking about it!

In order for the reader to be able to understand the whole context, we provide a short presentation of the American school system in Chapter 1.  Since school life can be divided into two parts, namely, an academic school life and a non- academic one, there is one chapter dedicated to each of them. Chapter 2 deals with everything related to actual curricular work, while chapter 3 discusses extra-curricular activities, which are realized after regular classes. In chapter 4, students’ attitude towards and perception of school shall be dealt with, and in the last chapter, we discuss what students can do in high school in order to prepare for postsecondary education.
